Riverview Rams @ Manatee Hurricanes (District Championship)

The Riverview Rams Varsity Girls were defeated by the Manatee Hurricanes in the District 11 Championship game on Thursday night at Manatee High School. Manatee was able to executed very well throughout the game at the draw circle, winning 21 of the 31 draws (68%), which led to their offensive getting 30 shots on goal against the Rams. Manatee sophomore Grace Knowles led all scorers with 7 goals. Riverview junior Susan Lowther had 6 goals. Seniors Emily and Katie Hazlett each had 2 goals for the Rams. Sophomore CC Hackl had a 3-point night with 1 goal and 2 assists.

Even though Riverview did not win the District Championship, their #7 ranking in the FHSAA 2A division gives them an at-large bid in the FHSAA Regional Playoffs.

Lakewood Ranch Mustangs vs. Riverview Rams (@ Manatee HS)

The Riverview Rams Varsity Girls defeated the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs, 20-12 at Manatee High School in the District 11 semi-finals. The Rams will play Manatee on Thursday, April 13, for the District Championship. Junior Susan Lowther had a record night for the Rams, scoring a single game record of 16 points (9 Goals/7 Assists), as well as picking up her 100th goal of the 2023 season. She also had 17 draw controls at the circle. Senior Emily Hazlett scored 4 goals and sophomore CC Hackl picked up 3 goals for Riverview. Hailey Domenick played well on defense, snagging 5 groundballs for the Rams. Riverview’s senior goalkeeper, Mia Rey recorded 11 saves between the pipes.

Riverview dominated at the draw circle, winning 79% of the draws (26-for-33). In addition to Lowther’s 17 draw controls, Hackl picked up 7 DCs, as well.

In a game that would determine which team will sit atop the District 11 standings in Division 2 FHSAA lacrosse, the Riverview Rams (9-6) traveled to Bradenton to take on the Manatee Hurricanes (8-3) on Tuesday night and fell, 16-11. Sophomore midfielder Susan Lowther tried to keep the game close in the first half by scoring 4 of the Rams 5 goals, but the Rams did not have an answer for Manatee’s Grace Knowles (4 Goals) and Penelope May (6 Goals) who contributed to the 30 shots on Riverview’s goalie, Mia Rey.

Riverview’s Lowther finished the game with 6 goals, pushing her season goal total to 52, breaking the Riverview Rams “Total Goals in Season” record set by Ronnie McCurdy (Class of 2018) in 2017 (49). Congratulations, Susan!

For the second night in-a-row, the Riverview Rams Varsity Girls (4-1) have been on the road playing in a district matchup. Tonight it was against the Manatee Hurricanes. The Rams dominated from start to finish, and came away with the win, 21-10. Ram notables: Camille Johnson 6G/1A, 4 DCs; Gabriella Connelly 5G/1A, 10 DCs; Brooke Whitmore 4G. Camille Johnson now has 25 goals in her first 5 games – as a FRESHMAN!
