Riverview Rams @ Plant Panthers (FHSAA 2A Region 3 Semi-finals)

The Riverview Rams (11-10) traveled to Tampa to play the Plant Panthers (21-0) in the FHSAA 2A Region 3 Semi-finals. Currently ranked #5 in the U.S. by MaxPreps, the Panthers wasted no time establishing their dominance by quickly jumping out to an 11-0 lead in the first quarter over the Rams. By the end of the game, nine different Panthers had contributed to the 20-goal night for Plant, with seniors McKenzey Craig scoring 4 goals, and Ashlyn Bell adding 3 goals for the Panthers. Riverview senior Caroline Steinwachs was the leading scorer for the Rams, netting 6 goals, finishing her career with the Rams with 246 goals (2nd All-time on Riverview’s career goal list), and her 2025 season with 100 points.

Note: Plant would continue their dominance in the 2025 FHSAA Division 2 Playoffs, beating Manatee, 19-8 in the Region 3 Championship, Hagerty, 17-6 in the semi-finals, and Lake Mary, 10-7 in the FHSAA Championship game. Plant finished their “perfect” 2025 season 24-0.

Riverview Rams @ Plant Panthers (FHSAA Region 3 Semi-Finals)

The Riverview Rams (11-7) traveled to Tampa in the FHSAA Region 3 Semi-Finals to play against the undefeated Plant Panthers (21-0). The Panthers dominated the game from the start, jumping out to a quick 3-0 lead within the first 3 1/2 minutes of the game. By halftime, Plant had pushed their lead to 11-5. By the fourth quarter, Plant had pushed their lead to ten goals, and closed out the game with a 21-11 victory, and advancing them to the Elite 8 in the FHSAA State Championship Series, and matchup against the undefeated Manatee Hurricanes (18-0) on May 3.

Plant’s scoring was lead by Junior Ashlyn Bell with 7 goals.

Riverview’s scoring was lead by Senior midfielder, Susan Lowther with 6 goals and Junior midfielder, Caroline Steinwachs with 3 goals. Lowther finished her playing days with the Rams amassing a staggering total of 489 points (326 goals and 163 assists over 71 games).

The Riverview Rams Varsity Girls (2-1, 1-0) traveled to Tampa for a non-district matchup against the HB Plant Panthers (3-0). The Panthers jumped out to a commanding 11-1 lead after the first two quarters and cruised to an easy 18-5 victory.

Junior Mckenzey Craig and Senior Maddie Miller each had 4 goals, and Junior Olivia Gray had 3 goals for Plant. Senior Susan Lowther lead Riverview with 3 goals.

2022 FHSAA 2A REGION 3 VARSITY BOYS REGIONAL QUARTERFINALS – RIVERVIEW @ PLANT

As the #8 seed, the Riverview Rams (10-9) Varsity Boys traveled to Tampa to face the #1 seed, HB Plant Panthers (16-2) in the FHSAA Division 2A, Region 3 Quarterfinals.

Coming into the game, Plant was riding a 9-game winning streak, averaging nearly 18 goals per game over that span. By the end of the first half, the Panthers were on pace to extend that average when they went up on the Rams 10-1. Plant spread the ball around well, allowing seven different Panthers to contributed to the first half barrage, with Junior Turner Ashby picking up 3 goals and 2 assists.

With a running clock started in the 3rd quarter, the Panthers were able to extend their lead, and cruised to a 16-6 victory, and will move on to face the Gulf Coast Sharks in the FHSAA Region 3 Semi-Finals. Nine different Panthers found the back of the net, with Juniors Eastin Willett and Ashby each having 3 goals.

Riverview’s scoring was lead by Senior Ken Kaiser with 4 points (3G/1A). Senior Kevin Southerland had 2 goals and Sophomore JC Fleming had 2 assists. Senior defender George Benitez had 5 groundballs and 2 takeaways on defense. Between the pipes, Riverview’s Junior goalie Will Leffler was able to stop 17 of Plant’s 33 shots on goal.

Riverview will graduate 13 Seniors from the 2022 team, and we are proud of each and everyone of them, we wish them the very, best.

Riverview Rams @ HB Plant Panthers

The Rams were back on the road this week as they traveled to Tampa for a non-conference game to face the 2-0, HB Plant Panthers.  The Panthers were coming off a big win against the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs (17-7). In last year’s matchup, the Panthers defeated the Rams, 10-8.   The Rams defense held the Panthers scoreless through 3 quarters and were able to secure a tough, 3-2 win.  Riverview’s goals were provided by Kenneth Kaiser, Saxton Dunlap and Sam Lehrman. Will Evans had a strong night with 6 groundballs and 2 takeaways. Justin Clark secured 4 groundballs. Josh Streitmatter, Matt Garcia and Kevin Sutherland had 3 groundballs apiece. Wyatt Kaighin had 14 saves in net.
