Riverview Rams @ Plant Panthers (FHSAA Region 3 Semi-Finals)

The Riverview Rams (11-7) traveled to Tampa in the FHSAA Region 3 Semi-Finals to play against the undefeated Plant Panthers (21-0). The Panthers dominated the game from the start, jumping out to a quick 3-0 lead within the first 3 1/2 minutes of the game. By halftime, Plant had pushed their lead to 11-5. By the fourth quarter, Plant had pushed their lead to ten goals, and closed out the game with a 21-11 victory, and advancing them to the Elite 8 in the FHSAA State Championship Series, and matchup against the undefeated Manatee Hurricanes (18-0) on May 3.

Plant’s scoring was lead by Junior Ashlyn Bell with 7 goals.

Riverview’s scoring was lead by Senior midfielder, Susan Lowther with 6 goals and Junior midfielder, Caroline Steinwachs with 3 goals. Lowther finished her playing days with the Rams amassing a staggering total of 489 points (326 goals and 163 assists over 71 games).


Sickles Gryphons vs. Riverview Rams (FHSAA Region 3 Quarterfinals)

The Riverview Rams (11-6) defeated the Sickles Gryphons (15-5) at the Ram Bowl in the FHSAA Region 3 Quarterfinals, 22-9. Riverview will move on to the Regional Semi-Finals on April 30th, to face the winner of the Plant (19-0) vs. Palmetto Ridge (3-8) matchup.

A total of eight different Rams contributed to the scoring for Riverview, with Senior Susan Lowther* leading all scorers with 13 points (8G/5A). Junior Caroline Steinwachs had 7 points (3G/4A), Junior CC Hackl* had 4 goals and Senior Alexandra Hernandez had 3 goals.

Riverview dominated at the draw circle, winning 24 of the 34 draws (71%). Lowther won 15 draws, to go along with her 4 groundballs and 2 takeaways. Steinwachs won 6 draws, and snagged 5 groundballs and 3 takeaways.

The scoring for Sickles was led by Junior midfielder Alexa Desart with 5 goals.

*Record Note: Hackl’s 4 goals moved her into 3rd place in the Riverview “All-time Points” ranking, with a total of 150 points (131 goals and 19 assists). Lowther’s 8-goal night gives her 101 goals on the season; the 2nd year in-a-row she’s tallied more than 100 goals in the season (112 – ’23).

Riverview Rams @ Manatee Hurricanes (FHSAA 2A-D12 Playoffs – Championship)

For the third year in-a-row, the Riverview Rams (10-6) faced the Manatee Hurricanes (16-0) to decide the District 12 Championship. Although the Rams opened up the game with a 4-goal, 6-2 lead in the 1st quarter, the Hurricanes pulled away in the 2nd half, kept their undefeated season intact, and won their 2nd District Championship, 16-11. The Rams dominated at the draw circle, winning 71% of the draws, but the Hurricanes were able to force 10 turnovers, and limited the Rams to only one assist in the game with their tenacious and smothering defense.

Riverview’s scoring was lead by Senior Susan Lowther with 6 goals and one assist. Manatee’s Junior Izzy French led the Hurricanes with 5 goals and 3 assists.

Lakewood Ranch Mustangs vs. Riverview Rams (@ Manatee HS)

The Riverview Rams (#2 Seed) Varsity Girls played the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs (#3 Seed) at Manatee High School in the FHSAA 2A, District 11 semi-finals on Friday night, with the winner of this game moving on to play the undefeated Manatee Hurricanes, who won earlier in the evening against Sarasota.

The Rams took care of business early, jumping out to a 9-1 lead over the Mustangs at halftime, and closed the game with a 19-10 victory. Riverview’s scoring was lead by Senior Susan Lowther with 13 points (6G/7A), Junior Chloe “CC” Hackl with 6 points (5G/1A) and Junior Caroline Steinwachs with 5 points (4G/1A). Riverview won 78% of the draws, with Lowther winning 17 draws herself.

Sarasota’s scoring was lead by the Freshmen Natalie Aguilar with 4 goals.

Riverview and Manatee will now face each other in the FHSAA 2A District 11 Finals on Wednesday, April 17th at 7PM at Manatee. This will be the third year in-a-row these two teams have played for the District Championship, with Riverview (2022) and Manatee (2023), each winning a District Championship.
