The Riverview Rams (5-6, 1-1) Varsity Boys faced the Venice Indians (2-6, 0-1) in a District matchup at the Ram Bowl on Friday night. Prior to the game, we honored our eight Seniors:
Will Leffler, Lucien Minford, Billy Snyder, Solano Benitez, Tyler Weston, John Cox, Brett Koch and Logan Chappell.
Venice jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first quarter, on goals by John Piroli and Colby Francolini. In the second quarter, Riverview tied it up, on goals by senior Billy Snyder and sophomore Jack Yochim. With 4:06 left in the 3rd quarter, junior Zach Westover scored the go-ahead goal for the Rams, and Riverview was able to extend the lead, and secure the 7-4 victory. Yochim and Snyder each had 2 goals for the Rams. Senior Will Lefler finished the game stopping 15 of the 22 shots he faced (68%) in goal.
Defensively, junior Ty Nutter had a career night, with 8 groundballs and 5 takeaways. His first game back since suffering an injury back on February 21, senior Solano Benitez played well, by going 4-for-7 on faceoffs, snagging 5 groundballs, 1 takeaway, and scoring a goal for Riverview.
