The Riverview Rams Varsity Girls (4-2, 3-0) lacrosse team hosted the Manatee Hurricanes (1-1, 0-1) in a District 11 matchup in the Ram Bowl Thursday night. Manatee jumped out to a quick 3-1 lead in the first half as a result of a couple goals by senior Penelope May and one by sophomore Zoe Stewart, but Riverview was able to quickly respond and eventually take a 5-4 lead with 13:16 remaining in the first half on a goal by junior Susan Lowther. The go-ahead goal by Lowther was her 200th career point as a Ram, adding to the “Career Points” record she currently holds. With just under 7 minutes remaining in the first half, Riverivew put added offensive pressure on the Hurricanes and would score 5 goals to take a 10-7 lead into halftime, with 5 different Rams finding the back of the net (Emily Hazlett, Clementine Schwartz, Caroline Steinwachs, Susan Lowther, and Chloe Hackl).

In the second half, Riverview was able to hold off the Hurricanes, with solid draw control, tenacious defense, and great goal play by Riverview’s Mia Rey, limiting Manatee to 8 goals. Rey would finish the game with 10 saves for the Rams. Throughout game, Riverview’s offense was accurate with their shooting, with a season best, 71%.

Riverview’s scoring was lead by Susan Lowther with 10 points (7G/3A), Caroline Steinwachs with 7 goals, and senior Emily Hazlett with 3 goals. Sophomore Chloe Hackl had 2 goals, as well.

Manatee’s scoring was led by sophomore Grace Knowles with 6 points (5G/1A) and senior Penelope May with 4 goals.
