East Lake Eagles vs. Riverview Rams

In their final home game of the 2022 regular season, the Riverview Rams (9-6) Varsity Boys hosted the East Lake Eagles (11-4) from Tarpon Springs, Florida on Tuesday night.  Battling a few injuries with their starting lineup, it took some time for the Rams to get their momentum going, as the Eagles jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after goals by Maddox Morrow and Kyle Simoensen, but the Rams answered with 3 straight goals in the 2nd quarter, to tie the game before halftime. In the third quarter, trailing by a goal with less than a minute to play, the Rams rallied, when sophomore JC Fleming scored three straight goals, including a buzzer beater as freshman Logan Alexander found an open Fleming, who was able to find the back of the net as the horn went off. The Rams extended their lead in 4th quarter with back-to-back goals by senior Kevin Southerland, and another goal by Fleming, his fourth of the night. Final score, Riverview 12 – East Lake 7.

Riverview’s scoring was led by Fleming and Southerland, who each had 4 goals. Senior Justin Dorociak had a solid night at Attack, filling in for the injured Ken Kaiser in the 2nd half, scoring 2 goals and 1 assist. Junior Solano Benitez was nearly perfect at faceoffs, winning 10-out-of-12 at the circle. Junior Will Leffler had 9 saves in goal for the Rams.
