SARASOTA SAILORS (4) VS. RIVERVIEW RAMS (1)
With the #1 MaxPreps PowerRanking for the District, the Riverview Rams Varsity Girls (11-6) hosted the Sarasota Sailors (5-11) in the Ram Bowl in the District 11 Semi-Finals.
Riverview jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the first half, with sophomore Susan Lowther contributing to all five goals (4G/1A). With under a minute to go in the half, Sarasota picked up their first goal from freshmen Ava Kozicky. The Rams continued their barrage of scoring, picking up 10 more goals in the 2nd half, and the 15-3 victory. With the win, Riverview moves on to face the Manatee Hurricanes (10-3) in the District 11 Championship on Wednesday, April 13th, at 7PM in the Ram Bowl. Manatee defeated Lakewood Ranch (4-5), 16-2, in their Semi-Final game.
Mia Rey had 9 saves in goal (75%) for the Rams. Riverview’s scoring was lead by Lowther, who picked up a total of 11 points (9G/2A), which puts her in a tie with alumni Ronnie McCurdy for the most “Total Points – All-Time” for the Riverview Rams with 148. Lowther added to her record for “Total Goals – All-Time,” picking up her 101st goal.
